It's Not Just (Brain) Science

Neurosciences could be the most delicate medical field there is.

Alongside skill and experience, it demands some of the smallest, most exacting tools available. Securing all of these necessary elements has helped us establish a truly comprehensive spine program.

From non-invasive spinal surgeries to the diagnoses and treatment of various other neurological disorders, our continuum of care reaches deep and wide.

Our medical team takes the time to listen and better serve its patients. This is Coral Gables Hospital. This is healthcare on a human scale.

Time Lost Is Brain Lost

When it comes to stroke, time lost is brain lost. This is why it is critical to recognize the signs of a stroke and get to the nearest hospital for evaluation and treatment as soon as possible.

If you experience any of the stroke signs, or identify the signs in someone else, act FAST and dial 911. Use the National Stroke Association’s FAST test to remember warning signs that assesses three specific symptoms of stroke:

  • Facial weakness - can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?
  • Arm weakness - can the person raise both arms?
  • Speech problems - can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?
  • Time to call 911

About Stroke

The American Stroke Association estimates that approximately 795,000 Americans each year suffer a new or recurrent stroke. It is the No. 3 cause of death in the United States, behind heart disease and cancer. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood it needs to survive.
