An Update for our community on the COVID-19 Vaccination Process

We are currently in Phase 1 of our COVID-19 vaccination plan.  This means we are vaccinating front line staff and physicians with first responders to follow.  We have started initial planning for community vaccinations, but we have not received enough vaccine supply at this time. We are working closely with our state and local leaders, and we will keep everyone informed as more vaccine doses become available and we are able to expand vaccination capability.  The most effective safety measures we can take against COVID-19 continue to be wearing a mask, washing our hands, and maintaining social distance. We remind our community not to delay care. Our hospitals are open, safe and ready to care for you.

Welcome to Coral Gables Hospital

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and thank you for choosing Coral Gables Hospital. Our long legacy of offering high quality healthcare to the Coral Gables and Miami communities began over 90 years ago in the same place our hospital stands today. From our humble beginnings in 1926 as a 35-bed facility, we have experienced tremendous change and positive growth to consistently offer our patients and their families some of the most advanced medical options in our 245-bed hospital. I have had the honor of seeing much of this extraordinary development firsthand since I joined the hospital more than 30 years ago.

Coral Gables Hospital Earns 9th Consecutive “A” for Patient Safety in Spring 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Dec 20, 2019

Coral Gables Hospital, Fla. (April 12, 2017) – Coral Gables Hospital achieves an “A” Hospital Safety Score from The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit patient safety advocacy organization. The fall 2017 Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries and infections, is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts in patient safety.

“At Coral Gables Hospital, we are committed to making sure our patients feel comfortable in knowing they are receiving the best treatment in the safest possible environment,” said Cristina Jimenez, hospital chief executive officer. “Our ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group, for the ninth consecutive time, is a testament to our ongoing commitment to patient safety.”

The Hospital Safety Score uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” score based on a hospital’s ability to keep patients safe from preventable harm. The Leapfrog Group releases the reports on a biannual basis.

With more than 2,600 hospitals nationwide evaluated and graded, less than one-third of those earned an “A” rating. Coral Gables Hospital achieved perfect scores in the “Hospital Uses Standard Safety Procedures” category.
