Knee Replacement

Sometimes it’s best to start over

When rehab and other non-surgical solutions aren’t enough, knee replacement surgery may be performed to repair a knee damaged by disease or injury. Knee replacement removes the damaged bone and joint and replaces it with an artificial one. Taking the leap from pain to a new knee can be a challenging one, and your doctor can help you make the right choice.

The procedure

The actual procedure generally lasts about 2 hours. The damaged bone and cartilage will be removed from the knee, and will be replaced with the new artificial knee.

Why Coral Gables?

In the end, it’s really about the experience of our doctors, because with joint replacement, practice makes perfect, along with the nurses and support staff who will help get you back on your feet.

That’s the piece that’s often overlooked – what happens AFTER surgery? At Coral Gables, you’ll have access to the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Coral Gables. Who better to explain what makes that important to you than Katherine Kaliher, rehab supervisor.  Read her story here
